The following are the highlights of the Firm's
appearances before Congressional Committees and the Firm's assistance
to one of those Committees in drafting remedial legislation to
assist the cause of public investors, which occurred in the aftermath
of the Supreme Court's decision in the landmark case Shearson/American
Express, Inc. v. McMahon.
In the McMahon case, the Court shifted almost all securities fraud
cases from court to arbitration. In light of the historical context
of the Court's decision, which now affects the majority of public
investors, as a public service this site features the audiotape
of the argument held before the Court on March 3, 1987.
